Edit Florist & Wholesaler Information

Florist & Wholesaler Information

  • A family of 76 species native to South Western Australia which was named after Sir Joseph Banks who first collected these plants in 1770.
  •  Cylindrical, brush like flower heads can range from 5 to 30 cm long and 6 to12 cm wide.
  •  Flowers are typically orange or yellow in hue.
  • As the flower spikes or heads age, the flower parts dry up and may turn shades of orange, tan or dark brown colour.  Old flower spikes are commonly referred to as "cones", although they are not: cones only occur in conifers and cycads.

Grower and Breeder Information

  •  Foliage tips, which sometimes can show field burn need to be clipped.
